Awakening Bohéme Slip Dress

CA$148.00

Created to embrace the transformative power of self love and awareness, this stunning dress combines two magical pieces of art: a lush landscape of the waterfalls at Tivoli, Italy, painted by artist Louis Ducros in 1790, and an antique engraving depicting Lady Liberty created by E. Savage in 1796. We married them together to produce a rich, beautiful vision of a woman confidently stepping in to her own power. The painterly palette is feminine, romantic, and strong.

The adjustable straps, oversized cut, and soft, flowy bamboo viscose make our Bohéme dresses a wardrobe staple for layering, running errands, dancing, lounging or napping — and they’re also a must-have for travel, wherever you roam. You can also wear this piece two ways, with the woman on the front of the skirt, or the back — depending on your mood. It pairs beautifully with the matching Awakening Opera Duster as shown (available seperately).

Please note: The nature of our soft bamboo/wood viscose means it’s slightly sheer, so we recommend layering it with our Étoile slip (or any other slip you have) when wearing it with bare legs. Our model in the photos is wearing the dress without a slip.

100% bamboo/wood viscose. Machine wash gentle or handwash and hang to dry. Iron to finish if needed.

Adjustable straps. Dress measurements: S/M — length 132cm at shortest strap adjustment, 142cm at longest. Width 52cm (across bust, underarm to underarm), 54cm (across waist seam). L/XL — 134 cm length at shortest strap adjustment, 144cm at longest. Width 57cm (across bust, underarm to underarm), 59 cm (across waist seam).

Model is 5’9” and wears a S/M for reference.

an invincible summer.”
- Albert Camus

“I think sometimes, I am not a woman,
but the light that falls on this ground. I am the seasons…
January, May, November;
the mud, the mist, the dawn.”

  • This dress is a seasonless game changer for your wardrobe! Pair it with a jean jacket or crisp white shirt & sandals in the sunshine, or layer it over a cozy turtleneck in the fall and add your favourite boots & scarf. The vibrant hue of the sky and beautifully rich earth tones in the print make it so versatile and effortless to wear. We also love this dress belted, with a cropped sweater layered over top and a pair of turquoise earrings — instantly chic. Don’t forget to pack it in your carry-on bag either — it’s a stunning beach cover-up that will also take you out to dinner in style ;)

  • The leader, the phoenix. Women who bravely reinvent themselves, who step in to their own worth so they can share it with the world. Women who know there’s always another chance to become who they were truly meant to.

  • Hundreds of artists, many of them renowned, have painted the waterfalls at Tivoli from this same vantage point through the centuries. It’s fascinating to compare them and see the same landscape through many different eyes, and many different time periods — even the magnificent tree in the foreground of Ducros’ painting can be seen again and again through the years like a painted time capsule. In life — like in art — there is always another opportunity to see the world with a new perspective, and to become the best version of yourself :)

  • In the foothills of her hardest days she kneels in the rocks,  bends her head and looks down the deep well  of her heart. At the bottom  she sees abandoned things in the water there:   a white flash of crowded stars, broken pottery,  the tangled feathers of a bird.

    When she dips her cup to drink  she will taste a flood of remembering. Apples and ache, breath and sunlight, mud and milk.  Forest rain. The sea. And the strong wet iron in her bones.  Her chest widens like the sky. All at once there is room for everything inside her— even her goodness.  Room for all the stars, a vase of flowers, and her wings.
