Earth & Sky Starduster
One of our favourite ways to pass the time on a warm, summer afternoon is just lie in the grass and look up at the clouds through the branches of the beautiful old trees that border our headquarters here at Market of Stars. Earth and Sky was created out of a deep appreciation for rare afternoons like these — full of wise ancient trees, and wide open skies! Painted in the late 1800’s by British artist Charles Aston, the palette is a dreamy and meditative play of textures and colours from the natural world. We trimmed Aston’s magnificent tree with moths painted in the 1600’s by Dutch master Melchior d’Hondecoeter. The result is airy and ethereal, and so easy to wear.
100% bamboo/wood viscose. Machine wash gentle or handwash and hang to dry. Iron to finish if needed.
Kimono measurements: length 92cm, width 110cm. Model is 5’7” for reference.

The flowing curve of the mossy branches in this earthy, bohemian piece make it both beautiful and flattering to wear. It pairs perfectly with aqua, sage, moss, and taupe — but we love it with a pop of cinnamon or jade green too! Wear it casually with leggings or shorts on beach days and yoga days, and dress it up for an event with a simple slip dress and some artsy stone jewellery or simple bangles.

Born in 1832 in Birmingham and trained as an architect, watercolour artist Charles Aston is best known for his landscape and scenic paintings of views around Italy and Wales. During his life he exhibited works at the New Watercolour Society and the Royal Academy, and was a member of the esteemed Royal Institute of Painters in London.

Her warm back against the earth leaves no mark. Still the gentle ghost of every heart that once eased on these roots stirs and sighs with hers: I stopped to see this piece of sky on a summer day my eyes followed the curve of this branch and that one to its green end. I once was here, too.
