Winter Wish Bohème Slip Dress
We created this Limited Edition nostalgic, vintage print to celebrate the magic of the holidays, and the tradition of welcoming light and joy in the dark of winter. Featuring Victorian-era images from holiday greeting cards — including reindeer in the snow, a perfect little fir tree, golden stars, and traditional plaid trim — it’s charmingly festive without being over-the-top! This design is delightful for lounging and entertaining throughout the holiday season, but we’ll also be layering it up with cozy knits and boots for everyday wear. It’s a wonderful life ;)
The adjustable straps, oversized cut, and soft, flowy bamboo viscose make our Bohéme dresses a wardrobe staple for layering, running errands, dancing, lounging or napping — and they’re also a must-have for travel, wherever you roam. Like all of our slip dresses, this piece is reversible! It also pairs beautifully with the matching Winter Wish Belted Jacket as shown (available seperately).
Please note: The nature of our soft bamboo/wood viscose means it’s slightly sheer, so we recommend layering it with our Étoile slip (or any other slip you have) when wearing it with bare legs. Our model in the photos is wearing the dress without a slip.
100% bamboo/wood viscose. Machine wash gentle or handwash and hang to dry. Iron to finish if needed.
Adjustable straps. Dress measurements: S/M — length 132cm at shortest strap adjustment, 142cm at longest. Width 52cm (across bust, underarm to underarm), 54cm (across waist seam). L/XL — 134 cm length at shortest strap adjustment, 144cm at longest. Width 57cm (across bust, underarm to underarm), 59 cm (across waist seam). Model is 5’7, and is wearing a size S/M for reference.

Our whole team is obsessed with this beautiful piece! Wear it with the plaid side in front, and add a denim jacket, tights, and the matching scarf for a cool everyday outfit. Or switch things around with the star print in front and pair it with a belt & cardigan for holiday parties or entertaining at home. We also love it worn as a skirt! Layer it under a cropped, chunky sweater and add a pair of lace-up boots for a chic & eclectic look that will take you from a busy day of holiday shopping to dinner out with friends. However you style this wonderful dress, don’t forget to put on your favourite holiday songs and dance around ;)

The warmhearted, the joyful. Women who delight in the magic and wonder of the season, who sing carols in the car and check their lists twice. Women who let their hearts be light.

For almost 200 years, the tradition of sending greeting cards for the holidays has been part of the way we celebrate the season with our loved ones near and far. Handmade Christmas cards were popularized during the Victorian era in the the mid-1800’s, with the very first card being commercially printed on a printing press in 1843 (the very same year Charles Dickens published “A Christmas Carol”). That card — of which around a thousand copies were printed — was a hand-coloured lithograph that sold for one shilling. (Very few copies remain, and if you could find one today, it would be worth several thousand dollars!) By the 1880’s, holiday cards had become a popular and beloved tradition, and cards of all kinds were being printed, sent, and treasured. We absolutely adore the vintage, hand-coloured lithograph cards from this era — several of which we used to create our Winter Wish design.
Whether you still send traditional cards at the holidays, or send emails & texts instead, letting the people we most care about in our lives know that we’re thinking of them is one of the most wonderful things we can do to celebrate the season. If you’re reading this and there’s someone in your life you haven’t reached out to in a while, go ahead and let them know how important they are to you! Wishing you much joy, love, abundance, and good cheer this holiday season from all of us at Market of Stars :) xoxo

On the Eve
Tonight the woods are white
as dresses, trees kneeling
in their skirts. The deer
have left their pockets to watch
the world be crowned again
in sequins of snow. Inside the housewe have slipped off
our good shoes
and wear the firelight
like fineness, faces haloed,
aglow with supper
and wine. The glasses
we raised now washed
and put to bed, the sound
of their merry clink fading
like far off bells. The giftsare given. Our windows frost
like a filling hourglass,
while you and I nestle
between what was
and what will be. The children
inside us are put to bed, tucked in
to the folds of our robes
and dreaming. Their wishesrise up the chimney
before drifting back down
to rest like jewels
at the hem
of the woods.
